Be aware of foods that may “trigger” or intensify hot flashes:

• alcoholic beverages

• hot soups or hot beverages, such as coffee and tea

• spicy, highly seasoned foods

• high-fat, greasy foods

Avoid over-heated rooms whenever possible.

Avoid tight-fitting clothes.

Wear clothing made of cotton or other natural fibers, especially at night. Avoid synthetic fabrics such as polyester, nylon, and spandex.

Use bedding made of natural fibers, such as cotton or flannel sheets and cotton or wool blankets. Avoid sheets and blankets made of synthetic materials.
